Welcome to UCRAV, scientific instruments grid
LSM-510 USACH

UCRAV is a scientific instruments grid grid which allows you to visualize the analyses of the samples you have sent to our laboratories online and in real time in a secure, reliable and private way, with exclusive dedicated resources.

UCRAV is a pioneering collaboration project for the creation of a national scientific instruments grid - specialized in the analysis of organic and inorganic samples -, connected all along the country by means of the Academic Network, REUNA.

UCRAV's structure is made up of scientific instruments distributed throughout the laboratories of the universities that belong to the grid, interconnected by the Advanced Internet network to a central server located in REUNA. UCRAV is basically composed of:

  • The scientific instrumental -Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer, X-Ray Diffractometer, Analytic Microscope, Real Time PCR and Quantitative PCR, and Laser Scan Confocal Microscope - made available by the universities participating in the project;
  • A technological platform which enables the online visualization of the sample analyses generated by the instruments, access to the documentation produced during the communication and interaction process between the user or client (the one who sent the sample to the laboratory to be analysed) and the service provider (the one who operates in the laboratory the instrument which performs the sample analysis), and which facilitates the logistics previous to the realization of the analysis; and
  • A national grid, built by UCRAV in order to enable the online and real time interaction between the user and the laboratory, while conducting the visualization of the analyses' results.

UCRAV's scientific instruments grid opens new possibilities for laboratories and their users, expanding the range and scope of the sample analysis services by eliminating the shortcomings imposed by geographical barriers and distances -. This benefits science and the national industry, not only in terms of the technological development and expertise of the researchers associated to these laboratories, but also in terms of a more equitable access to scientific instrumental required for the development of research for scientific or industrial purposes.

UCRAV, its platform and grid, are open for the integration of new scientific instruments and users. UCRAV's analysis visualization services are aimed at researchers from universities, research centres and institutes, postgraduate students, industries and users that require specialized analyses performed with scientific instruments. If you wish to access them, you have to register as user (in the orange box, on the left hand side of your screen).

UCRAV is the result of the collaboration established by the University of Atacama, the University of Concepción, the Northern Catholic University, the University of Chile, the Metropolitan Technological University and REUNA, with funds provided by CORFO and INNOVA.
