1. Who can use UCRAV's analyses services?
UCRAV is a web service for the visualization of remote analyses aimed at: researchers from universities, research institutes and centres, postgraduate students, industries and users that require specialized analyses with scarce and high-cost scientific instruments.

2. What do I have to do in order to use the instruments' analyses services
In order to access the remote analysis services you must:
- 1. In the homepage www.ucrav.cl, on the top right hand side there is a dialogue box which says LOGIN.
- 2. Click on the phrase "register here" in order to get a subscription.
- 3. The system will produce a form in which you have to enter your personal information and choose the instrument(s) you wish to use.
Once this process has been completed, within the following 24 hours, each laboratory that owns the instrument(s) you selected will send you an email to the account you entered with information regarding the approval or rejection of your request. If accepted, you will be given a UserId (Login) and a Password, which will enable you to access the UCRAV application (this will enable you to use the instrument(s) selected by you) from the LOGIN dialogue box, located on the top right hand side of UCRAV's website.

4. Which equipment and software requirements do I have to meet if I want to access the platform's analysis services?
If you wish to use the platform as a user of the instruments' analysis you will have to meet the following minimum requirements, which are fundamental for the correct visualization of the communication tools between the operator and the user of the analysis, as the application only requires the use of one browser:
- Screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels and an Internet Explorer or Firefox web browser.
- Analysis Client PC Platform:
- Connection: you need a 600 kbps or higher connection.
- Operative system: PC Windows 95 or any newer version, or Windows NT 4.0 or higher.
- Processor: Pentium 300 Mhz (Advisable: 350 Mhz or higher).
- RAM memory: 256 MB or higher.
- Sound: 16 bits sound card.
- Video: 16 MB Graphic Accelerator (AGP), or higher, with 65.000 colours.
- Webcam: Ideally CCD, or otherwise high quality CMOS; resolution 640x480 30 fps, USB.
- Monitor: 1204x768 pixels resolution.
- Speakers and microphone, or Headset.

Each laboratory sets its own costs for analyses. In the Services page you will find the description of the instruments and the analyses they provide, as well as their characteristics.

6. What is the cost of the subscription to the service?
If you register as user of the platform, subscription is free of charge; services are charged depending on the analysis you use, and this charge is applied by the corresponding laboratory.

7. Can I use this platform's services if I am at home?
If you are an analysis client you can access the platform from any equipment connected to the internet. However, in order to appropriately participate in the analysis process it is advisable that you do so from an equipment with bandwidth and network quality features, namely a 600 Kbps connection, or higher.

8. Can enterprises use this analysis services platform?
Yes, they can. Enterprises can access this alternative. Although laboratories are oriented to research and teaching activities, they do offer specialised services for enterprises.
From the technical point of view, it is necessary that the enterprise has suitable network conditions to obtain quality conditions whereby communication and visualisation applications can be correctly executed.

For the correct visualisation of communication tools between the analysis' operator and user, the following is necessary:

- Sound: 16 bits sound card.
